ABSTRACT: CHUVA-GLM Vale do Para{\'{\i}}ba field experiment took
place in the metropolitan region of S{\~a}o Paulo and
Para{\'{\i}}ba Valley, from November 2011 to March 2012. The
objective of this experiment was to characterize the physical
processes of thunderstorm development throughout an international
collaboration with the GOES-R and MTG satellite programs. The
thunderstorms were observed with CHUVA instrumentation and 10
lightning location systems, field mills, high-speed video cameras
and the TRMM LIS. In this study we show the relationship between
the electrical activity inside the cloud and the occurrence of
severe weather, like hail, damaging winds and flooding. The
characterization of this relationship can be useful in the
development of algorithms for monitoring, alerting and
                         nowcasting.",
